My own Shirley Temple
Alexis first big dance recital was this past Wednesday at the Henderson Pavallion. She has been in Lori Day's 3 year old tap and jazz class since September and loves her teacher and dancing. Alexis was so excited for her recital. I was nervous because her class did a little Christmas show in December and Alexis hardly danced at all and was really grumpy. It hadn't help that she had missed dinner before the show. So Wednesday I made sure she had an early dinner and brought lots of snacks. I think that most exciting thing for Alexis in getting ready was making her hair curly and wow did it turn out curly! She was my own Shirley Temple. Alexis did great in the recital. She remembered most of her steps and was actually almost always right on the beat (that has taken a long time to figure out!) I was very proud of my little dancer. Ariana already can't wait for her turn on stage. Each week when it time for dance class she has to get dressed in dance clothes and wear her own little pair of tap shoes.
Mommy when is it going to Rain?
Alexis has been asking for over a month why it never rains here. When I told her it does rain sometimes she has of course been asking, "when is it going to rain Mommy?" Great question. Nevada, like so many other states right now, is in a severe time of drought. Wow, yes it really is a desert, imagine that! So right after our first heat wave of over 100 degrees the heavens opened and Vegas has experienced rain for two days strait. The girls love seeing the rain and playing in the puddles and I love that it is not so hot! (I'm all for keep it as cool as possible for as long as possible)
We live up on a hill so we got some great rivers of water. The girls were both a little apprehensive about the river and Ariana even told Justin "It's scary Daddy." Well when the most water you see is in the bath tub I can only imagine how strange the river on the road looks.

Quickly they decided they loved the water and Ariana loved it so much she did not want to get out of it. Our whole family took a walk in the rain and Ariana walked in the water the entire time!

Birthday Memories
The girls birthday's were in March. Ariana turned two March 4 and Alexis turned 4 March 30. My camera has gone crazy and decided to delete a lot of pictures so I am missing both of their actual birthday pictures (grr... sometimes technology is wonderful and sometimes its just frustrating!) Justin was able to recover a few photos from Alexis party that was during April and I am soo greatfu

We Love Watermelon

One of my girls favorite things in the summer time is watermelon. They just can't seem to get enough of it. We love going to sizzler because they let the girls eat the salad bar for free and they love it because they have huge bowls of watermelon all year long. We have already had some pretty yummy watermelons so far and some cute faces to go along with them. Enjoy!

Its always fun when Grandma Comes
My mom was able to come visit this past Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I'm so glad that even though we don't live in a city with family that we are close enough for lots of visits. We all had a great time together. We took Grandma to the water show at the Belagio, the big toy store with the giant floor piano in the mall connected to Ceasars palace, dinner at Red Robin, shopping for clothes and ice cream at Skoops. Grandma we love you!

Potty Power!

My baby is a big girl! She is starting to sit on the potty chair and actually do more than toot. On Mother's Day I got a great present from Ariana, she did her first poo-poo on the potty ever! Yes, I am excited that I will always remember Mother's Day 2008 because my baby used the toilet. She was so proud of herself. We had a great big potty party and called all the grandma's. I bought her a little "baby" potty chair a few days ago and she loves sitting on it while she watches a movie and yelling out "I did it! I did it Mom!" when ever she goes tinkle (pee-pee). Yes, some how I am already Mom to my two year old. What ever happened to Mommy or Mama and my baby being tiny?
